You aren't that special, actually
There are 8 billion human beings on this planet, and you are one of them.
Most of these people live very similar lives. They have a boring, low-paying job, don't self-educate, have a few kids, watch TV multiple hours a day, and don't really care about their physical health.
Their lives aren't full of adventures, and they don't build anything truly impactful that increases humanity's health, wealth, or happiness.
If you therefore
haven't built an insane physique
haven't produced truly beautiful art
didn't contribute to science in any way
aren't a hyper-successful entrepreneur
don't have 10 children and own huge land
aren't traveling the world and reading books
and haven't had a serious challenge that unlocked your true potential yet, then you might have guessed it, you aren't special.
You might think you're special because of your thoughts, dreams, aspirations, and beliefs. But the truth is that you aren't, and if you can't accept that, you will forever stay that way.
Your mind is probably bringing up all sorts of defense thoughts against what I just said.
"This is just stupid status stuff that's inauthentic and doesn't really matter for everyday life. True life is experienced in the present moment, and I can experience it in ways most people can't!"
Whatever counter-thought your mind produces in response to me telling you that you aren't special is a big lie (if the above list applies to you).
If "being special" in terms of real-world actions isn't important, why do you still try to put your mind in a special light? Why do you still search for ways that prove that you're special just because of the guy that you are?
It's hard to accept, but you had enough time to do amazing things.
If you didn't produce exceptional outcomes you aren't special. Period.
But you obviously don't have to stay that way. You can become special, and you should try to.
Trying to become a special human being isn't a negative thing. It's something extremely positive, and I respect everyone who tries to do something amazing with his life.
It is, however, weird to desire to be special for its own sake, which is exactly the kind of place you're in right now if you aren't actually special but think that you are.
Some people, for example, want to be famous which I consider to be a vice. They want the outcome but not the work. On the other hand, those who don't want fame at all and think that this makes them virtuous, aren't that virtuous after all.
If you do something amazing with your life, you will probably become famous, and that's that. Seeking fame or despising fame is both useless and pathetic.
The admirable thing about a special human being is that he aims to live his life to the fullest extent possible.
So what I want to carve into your brain is the pursuit of your fullest potential. Of using the life that you have been blessed with. Of making the most out of the present moment.
Instead of wanting to feel special and not doing anything to get there, try to do amazing things and don't care about the outcome.
Truly special people know that they have to do special things to feel special. So they work, think, strategize, sacrifice, and go all in on life.
Normal people want to feel special without doing anything. So they take drugs, consume unlimited entertainment, and crave simulated experiences made by other humans who have a business in making you feel special (hahaha).
So please, for the love of God, please reject the idea that you are special. You most probably aren't. The statistics are literally against you. 99% of humans are simply normal.
Now one last thing: Being normal is fine and all, but it's boring. Don't be the guy who accepts being normal. That would be an insult against your potential, and against all the amazing ancestors that have lived before you and eventually made you emerge in the way that you are right now.
Make your life amazing.
Do something amazing today.
No, do something amazing right now!
