We are built for action
It's not in human nature to spend so much time on unearned consumption.
We evolved in an environment that would kill you if you didn't work all the time, and didn't learn as many skills as possible.
Learning and problem-solving are how the majority of our ancestors have spent the majority of their lives. This is what has led humanity to this age of abundance.
Most humans, especially you if you're reading this, not only escaped these brutal environments and aren't required to live so intensely anymore but are even bombarded with additional resources.
There's no need to be intense, and our brain is confused. It doesn't understand why we're not doing anything, but at the same time, it's also satisfied because you have eaten, and have been entertained.
Starvation problems have been replaced with obesity problems.
The lack of knowledge of the natural world has been replaced by useless information bombardments.
But we literally have an oracle, a magic wand in our pockets.
If you don't understand and implement this fundamental truth about humans you will live your life and never see the wonders of it.
I always approach my letters from the perspective of improving your life as much as possible. So today I only want to achieve one thing. Make it easy for me, please.
I want to shift your perspective on how you use your phone.
Broadly speaking, there are three ways to use your phone.
Production
Connection
Consumption
Consumption means watching, reading, or listening to content on the internet. This might be YouTube, Instagram, X, TikTok, or even Pornhub (you pathetic little shit).
Connection means having conversations with humans through the internet. AI will become ever more important in that aspect as well though. But in general, this is your usual phone call, WhatsApp, Telegram, X/IG DM's, or online community.
But the holy grail of the internet—the reason it exists in the first place—is production. A minority of internet users fall into this group. These are your content creators, entrepreneurs, and software engineers.
What if I told you that you've been missing out? Missing out on the good stuff.
If you already are a producer on the internet, congrats, do even more.
But if you aren't, you're spending as much time as a producer on it, but your brain is getting doggy-styled while others learn & earn.
The most straightforward way to become a producer is to start writing tweets on X. I recommend you do that right now. Literally. Go to X, or make an account, and write your first post. It will change a lot.
Now it's also important to note that your attitude toward connection & consumption changes once you start producing something.
You can see the man behind the curtain, and begin to crave the real motherfuckers. Those who tell the truth, and those who genuinely provide good information.
If you play your cards right, you can build a million-dollar business, connect with similar-minded people (or people you admire), and find true gems in terms of quality content.
You have limited time on this planet.
So whoever you are, start taking more action. Consuming random stuff for hours on end, and communicating with people you don't really resonate with isn't worth it.
Your ancestors would slap you in the face if they knew how you're using this powerful computer that you can take anywhere ALL THE TIME.
They'd say:
"You piece of shit. Make videos, record podcasts, write books, code software, learn all these amazing things, and make your life happen already! Where's your curiosity? Where's your energy? We were hunting for 5 days with ZERO food in our stomachs, and could still focus, run, fight, and jump like maniacs. You are boring! Do something! Do something now!
