awareness exists, so nihilism can f*ck itself

I know that awareness exists.

You are currently aware of the words that you are reading.

This is the ultimate first principle: Awareness exists.

Awareness exists, might be the truest two words a human can possibly say.

But knowing is a difficult business. To know something you have to be able to prove it. So that means that you, for example, make a statement and if that statement ought to be true it must be provable. If it's not provable it's only a belief, not knowledge.

Many people become nihilistic when they make this observation. They think something doesn't exist just because it isn't provable. They see no meaning in life because they think they can't prove any potential meaning.

But, "awareness exists", is provable. Your awareness proves it at this very moment, am I right?

So from this fact, I want to explore how far I can bring it in this letter. I'll use awareness as my foundation for the pursuit of truth, and show you how you can eliminate nihilism from there.

The objects of awareness

Awareness exists. I think that is something I can claim. I can be certain about it.

But it's also possible to claim that there are objects of awareness. By that, I mean that there are "things" (objects) that I perceive. These objects are characterized by being finite in space and time. For now, I can't prove that those objects exist outside of the fact that they are included in "awareness", but I can prove that they exist.

How?

Look a this word: WORD

Now look at this word: WORd

Are they the same? No! They are different in space and time, and they have different forms. This means that awareness includes objects.

That's why I can extend my claim about the universe, and say:

Awareness exists, and there are objects of awareness. These objects have a form. What differentiates one object from another object is its difference in space and time.

This leads me to the next thing I hope to be able to prove.

Space and time

The words that you are currently reading aren't infinite. They are finite. The proof for that claim is that they have a boundary.

Let's say the screen you are reading these words on would represent the entire universe. The words on the screen do not fill the entire screen, right? The words would stop being words if they had no boundaries—if they weren't limited in space. There would just be “screen”.

Simultaneously, these words are also finite in time. This letter doesn't fit into your screen entirely. If I had designed this letter in this way you couldn’t read it anymore because the words would be too small. No, the letter is only partially in your awareness currently, and that is a quality of time. You can't read the entire letter at the same time. You have to read it word by word and have to scroll on your screen to expose it, with time.

These two facts—space and time—are therefore proven. They exist, but I can't prove their existence outside of the fact that they exist within awareness. Its not immediately provable that something exists outside of awareness at all.

Therefore:

Awareness exists, and there are objects of awareness. These objects have a form. What differentiates one object from another object is the difference in space and time. Space and time exist within awareness because objects have boundaries.

I hope you noticed something.

Philosophical imprisonment through awareness

I can make claims about awareness, and I can make claims about the contents of awareness—about that which is perceived—but it's basically impossible to prove anything that isn't perceived, that isn't within my awareness.

The whole operation of science first and foremost exists within your mind. You have no proof that anything outside of your awareness exists.

So far so logical I hope.

Because of this imprisonment that is bestowed upon us by our very own awareness, every philosophical inquiry that transcends your perception is speculation.

However, the concept of something that isn't you—something outside of your awareness—exists within your awareness. Even though you don't know if anything other than your awareness exists, you have thoughts about that "other".

That "other" is what we call environment. That which surrounds the self. That which isn't the self.

Again: we don't know if there is anything but your awareness, but you perceive an environment, that is for sure.

Positivity > Negativity

So far I have concluded that awareness exists. That awareness has objects which are perceived, and that these objects are perceived because they have form. Their form occurs because they are finite in space and time. Lastly, I have also concluded that there is an experience of the “other”, something that isn’t you—your environment.

So since it's impossible to be aware of something that is outside of your awareness it's only logical to make the most out of the awareness that you've got.

As you might have noticed in this letter, I like to break things down to their most foundational principles.

We have awareness. Now what?

Well if you're an intelligent awareness you aim for positivity instead of negativity.

I'm not going to attempt to describe positivity or negativity here since that would take ages. What's fair to claim is that aiming for a positive awareness rather than a negative awareness is very intelligent. I think you can agree with me on that one.

So how do we make our awareness more positive?

Improvement

In nature, if you leave something by itself it deteriorates. It falls apart. Its pieces disintegrate and flow into all directions of the universe. The thing ceases to exist.

This is called entropy.

The opposite of entropy is the emergence of order. Bringing pieces together. Synthesizing mass, energy, information, and whatever else into a given space and time. This is what happens when you put conscious effort into creating something.

Now here's the thing:

There already are things that were created for you. It's what you perceive right now. To make them more positive, a.k.a.: to improve them, means to bring order into them. To introduce more mass, energy, and information into it. This then leads to the increase of the one thing you can be sure of having: awareness.

So let's explore how to improve/expand your awareness.

The 3 elements of awareness

Your awareness consists of:

  • sensory perceptions

  • thoughts & emotions

  • environment (the other)

If you can perceive anything else send me a DM on X or Skool, I wanna know.

But probably you can’t.

For practical purposes, I like to synthesize those perceptions down to; body, mind, and environment.

  • your sensory perceptions form the awareness of your body

  • your thoughts & emotions form the awareness of your mind

  • your perception of the “other” forms the awareness of your environment

These are the main domains of your awareness, of your life. And so if you're intelligent, and aim for positivity instead of negativity, your focus should be on improving the things that constitute your very life.

Remember, you can't know if anything outside of your awareness exists, so it only makes sense to make the best of what you've got. I'm not saying; don't philosophize about what might exist outside of your awareness, or whether what I'm claiming about awareness might be false. By all means do that. I'm doing it myself.

All I'm saying is that; body, mind, and environment are perceptional facts. It's a fact that you perceive those three things. It's a fact that they constitute the story of your life.

What I'm therefore suggesting is to build those three domains as well as possible. To make the most out of them.

For that reason, I've crafted a little game. A game to ensure that you cultivate those three domains of your life on a daily basis.

It's physical exercise for your body, 1hr of reading for your mind, and 1hr of building a business for your environment.
