1-week challenge for those who mean it

The elements of your perception are body, mind, and environment. I think that makes sense right?

You have thoughts and emotions; your mind, sensory experiences; your body, and some relationship with an exterior world; your environment. I don't care if you have a dualistic worldview where everything is one, haha. It's fair to claim that you perceive an environment you interact with—a world.

So if these three domains—body, mind, environment—constitute your very life, it makes sense to maximize the shit out of those, doesn't it?

If you're going to play this game called life, you might as well go all in.

But to go all in, you have to start playing. The chances are high that you're not very intense about improving your body, mind, and environment. You're probably leaving it to chance and don't care that much.

But that's boring and sad. I want to change that.

For that reason, I'm daring you to take on a 1-week challenge. I'm already playing so the only question is if you're going to play as well.

Logical action items

For each of the three domains I've identified, you need one action that is unarguably going to improve it. When I say "improve" I mean that it will cause your perception of it to be more joyful.

BODY: For the body, it's very simple. The one action item that yields the most returns is going to the gym. Gym—in this context—means physical exercise. So whether you're in a martial arts gym, a bodybuilding gym, a tennis gym, or just running around in the forest, it doesn't really matter. This action item is simply: GO TO THE FUCKING GYM EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE NEXT 7 DAYS!

Sorry for screaming.

The next action item should increase your consciousness.

MIND: When I think about the most straightforward way to increase the quality of my thoughts and emotions I think about reading immediately. Reading is the best way to download information. I know that implementing knowledge through writing, and immediate decision-making is much more important than reading for 6 hours every day, but in the end, you need information, so you might as well get it from people who went through the pain of writing a book about a certain topic. Book authors put tremendous effort into the creation of their products, so the quality when compared to courses, YouTube videos, newsletters, or podcasts is unmatched. So for the mind, it's reading for 1 hour for the next 7 days.

And lastly, the environment.

ENVIRONMENT: Your environment is positively influenced when you bring order into chaos. That is literally the creation myth in almost all religious Genesis stories. A deity, or multiple deities killing a vicious snake-like sea monster and building the cosmos out of its body parts. In other words, to create order from chaos. That is how you build a habitable space that gives room for truth, beauty, and joy. In my opinion, entrepreneurship is the best way to do that, since it is about becoming useful to humanity by building a business. A business is nothing but an operation of problem-solving that gains resources in the process, so that it can scale itself, and also provide material abundance for the entrepreneur. But building a business transcends making money if you are honest with yourself, and can accept that you either work for a business or run a business yourself. The latter is much more meaningful, and adventurous. So the third action item of your 1-week challenge is building a business for 1 hour every day for the next 7 days. I recommend building something on the internet since you can literally start that right now with zero capital.

The Challenge (recap)

  • 1hr building

  • 1hr reading

  • Gym

Every single day, for the next seven days. Do you have anything to lose?

Objection handling

At this point in the letter, I know that you have all sorts of objections in your mind as to why you shouldn't accept this challenge.

Let me address them, and convince you to grab your balls if you can find them.

You don't have to know which business to build, and you also don't have to plan to continue the business after this week. Use this week as an exploration of what building a business might feel like. But seriously, if you think that capitalism is evil, or something like that, think again. It's a lame excuse to not become useful to humanity.

And if you think that reading for 1hr and going to the gym every day is too much for you then I can't help you. Just think about how intensely our ancestors have lived their lives. It's very much possible to win this challenge and not die in the process.

So, if you're down, cool.

Start your 1-week challenge today. Thank yourself later.
